Expanding Spay/Neuter Services
Arlington Animal Welfare is thrilled to announce a significant expansion of its spay/neuter services. Recognizing the crucial role sterilization plays in controlling pet overpopulation and reducing the number of animals entering shelters, we’ve partnered with local veterinary clinics to offer subsidized procedures for low-income residents. This initiative will make affordable spay/neuter options more readily available to all Arlington residents, regardless of their financial situation. We’ve also increased our own in-house surgical capacity, allowing us to handle a higher volume of animals and shorten wait times for appointments. We believe this comprehensive approach will make a considerable impact on the overall health and well-being of Arlington’s animal population.
Community Pet Food Pantry
Financial hardship can often force difficult choices for pet owners, sometimes leading to pet relinquishment. To combat this, we’re proud to launch Arlington’s first community pet food pantry. This vital resource will provide free or low-cost pet food to families struggling to afford necessary supplies for their beloved companions. Located at our main facility, the pantry will operate on a referral basis, working in conjunction with local social services organizations to identify families in need. We aim to create a supportive network ensuring that no pet goes hungry due to their owner’s financial circumstances. Donations of pet food are always welcome and greatly appreciated.
Increased Foster Program Support
Our foster program plays a critical role in providing temporary care for animals awaiting adoption. Many of our animals arrive at the shelter needing extra care, socialization, or specialized medical attention. To better support our amazing foster families, we are implementing new initiatives. This includes providing increased training opportunities, offering higher quality supplies, and providing more frequent communication and support from our staff. By strengthening our foster program, we hope to increase the number of animals we can successfully rehabilitate and prepare for adoption, ensuring they find their forever homes. We’re actively recruiting new foster families and invite anyone interested to learn more.
Enhanced Adoption Events and Outreach
Finding forever homes for our animals is our ultimate goal. To achieve this, we are expanding our adoption events and community outreach efforts. We’ll be participating in more local festivals and community gatherings, bringing adoptable animals directly to the public. We’re also implementing a new online adoption application process, making it easier and more convenient for prospective adopters to connect with animals in need. We are committed to highlighting the unique personalities of each animal to help them find the perfect match. Our aim is to create a seamless and positive adoption experience for both animals and their new families.
Improved Shelter Facilities and Animal Enrichment

We’ve made significant investments in improving our shelter facilities, including renovations to create more spacious and comfortable kennels. We’ve also expanded our animal enrichment programs, providing more opportunities for playtime, socialization, and mental stimulation.
